well, as the one who brought it up, yup. many parts want to interact with outside people. of course, in my system, “alter” is kind of inaccurate in this kind of case, since each of us is a part….

and we’ve interacted with outside people for quite a long time, because, well, when there’s no “host,” then all interactions with outside people are by parts. more to the point, though, the littles didn’t necessarily show up clearly every time they were around, although looking back, i can see them showing up all along (i mean, how many adults really *have* to have toys on hand if they’re going to sit through a long seminar? but i figured it was just normal-for-me, and so did everyone else who knew me.)

and once the internal “rule” that everyone who came out had to make a pretense of being an adult was changed, parts began to develop semi-independent relationships with external people they/i/we trust (ie, partner, therapist, good friends).

the littles and teens really want interaction with people their own ages, though. i guess it’s mostly about… people who aren’t multiple, even if they are very in touch with their “inner child,” are still fully adult, even when playing (or whatever it is the other teens want to do….) so it’s lonely, even when we’re with people, if it feels like parts can’t make connections with someone their own age, i guess.
